Jude asked me this a few times and I told him I thought there wasn't. I researched it and got conflicting info. Do numbers go on for infinity? Crap, I hope he's not going to be a big math guy. I'm screwed if he is!

numbers go on for infinity, because "you can always add 1 to it".

the set of real numbers is designed never to have an endpoint, there are certainly numbers too big to conceptualize, and some of them are too big to write in any kind of long form, but my understanding is that theoretically you could just keep counting up through infinity... however infinity is not actually a number but more of a concept... any number plus infinity = infinity, any number times infinity = infinity, any number minus infinity = - infinity, etc. anyone who actually really understands mathematics please correct me if I'm wrong

big math guys go on to big careers, misha!

Time and space being infinite is debatable.

Ugh I hated these the first time I saw them. But really it is quite simple

i = imaginary number
i = -1
i (squared) = 1

interesting...i wonder how this concept of infinity will hold up if humans live long enough to learn more about it..?

well if you look at a graph of population versus time, you will see that it is an exponential function. we are at the turn where things start to approach infinity.

Had to google it, since you asked...

What is the square root of i?

There are two square roots of i: Posted Image and Posted Image. You can check that these are indeed square roots of i: just square each of them, and you get i.

Jude asked me this a few times and I told him I thought there wasn't. I researched it and got conflicting info. Do numbers go on for infinity? Crap, I hope he's not going to be a big math guy. I'm screwed if he is!

<3 haha .. i love you!! (((misha)))) jude's a clever little man, the questions will only get harder as he gets older.

The last number is usually called the Encore.

but as far as math goes, numbers have neither a beginning nor an end. Whole numbers have a beginning (1), but no end.

I think 0 is the first real number, I could be wrong. If it's not zero, then it's some infinitesimally small number that is as close to zero as possible without actually being zero.

imaginary numbers such as the sqrt(-1) are on the vertical rather than horizontal axis creating a complex plane.
