so some friends are getting married tomorrow so we're having a small reception for them in my friends yard.

kind of last second type party, and i have no idea what anyone else is bringing.
i making some ribs, but since i'll have a few hours of waiting around i figure i can chip in a side / appy as well.

all my go to stuff has been gone to, too many times
i need some - new ideas

old stand bys
guac / salsa
grilled shrimp or chicken kabobs
grilled veggies
steamed clams
slaw

we do have a kickass maccaroni (pasta) salad coming.
maybe 20 - 25 confirmed, mostly hard drinkers

do something with monkfish? lamb? jerk chicken? grilled peaches/pineapple?

my date/almond/blue cheese/bacon apps are always a hit ! (can make ahead of time and just warm on grill or sever at room temp)

just replace date pit with a smoked almond and some blue cheese, wrap in 1/2 slide of bacon and bake at 400 for like 15 minutes (until bacon crispy). sooo yummy and I'm sure there are 1,000 variations you can think of for this as well

pretty sure you can get pitted dates
I always forget to look an get ones w/pits and then bum out at having to cut the slit and take them out

could use pecan and peanut butter as substitutes for almond/blue cheese
or walnuts and Brie
or sundried tomato and goats cheese....
possibilities are endless

Might be too late, but...

Mango-avocado-red onion-lime-black pepper salsa is one of my go-tos :)

I can't remember if I like it better with or without cilantro.
