According to the "expert" cited in this article, it is.

http://blogs.philade...t-dressing-101/

When it comes to rocking your favorite band tee, she offers this very firm piece of advice: “NO! NO! NO! It is only acceptable when cold and you need new attire warm you up.”
“Please do not be that person.”

What say you?

[ ] Absolutely unacceptable
[ ] Heady as fuck
[ ] Who cares? Wear what you like.
[ ] Penis

what about wearing your favorite festivals shirt to a specific band's concert?
I have many more Vibes shirts nowadays than any band's.

I agree, unacceptable to wear the shirt of the group you're seeing. Of course, I've probably done it a few times myself.

ZOMG I don't know what to wear to the UM show tomorrow night! Kind Buds, Deadheadland, Mike DuBois print, Mets, plain old polo shirt? Now I wish I'd bought a Vibes shirt.

Oh yeah. I'm so happy you posted this because style is always first among my concerns when deciding what to wear to a show.

I always bring a travel iron to make sure my shirts are wrinkle-free, make sure to have three pairs of shoelaces for each pair of shoes: red, yellow, and pink. A selection of hats is very important, got to have a flat brim, a trilby, and something floppy.

Cleats are essential for dancing in the mud and everyone should bring at least three sizes to be able to cope with different depths.

Now the most important thing, of course, is to have a cute tank top. I'm talking designer tank here, like at least $150 worth of tank. And you have to boast to everyone about how much it cost you or you risk being uncool.

neutral on this (old classic no one has, would work, current tour...weak)

but what about music you listen to on the way to a show.
I was "raised" never listening to dead bootlegs on the way to a show.
Beatles were a heady option. Stones worked, but never Dead...
some issue about throwing off the karmic cosmic balance or something...pretty much follow this still, but since I can't be on the way to see Jerry, real Dead is fine always now
(if I'm ever really headed to see Jerry, please play as much Dead as you can)

I rock my Kind Buds shirts to their shows and plenty of others. Street team 4 lyphe, yo!

Of course I wear band/festie shirts to shows. Why the hell not, and why would I care if some hipster douchebag looked down his excessively pierced nose at me? Joke 'em if they can't take a fuck!!

I also agree...I have to vote against wearing merch of the band[s] playing that night. Whenever my friends and I go to shows and see someone wearing it, we call them "party fouls." I think it's kind of tacky personally, but does it really matter? Probably not. You're already showing enough support by being at the band's live show. The only time I've broken the rule is when I'm at an outdoor festival that gets chilly or at the very end of the night when I'm about to leave [and it's cold outside]. Once you're outside the venue, rule is off.

Probably sounds lame but just my opinion after a few short years of concert going so far haha

Yeah I am big on the don't listen to the band you are seeing on the day of the show rule. Especially since I usually do a few shows in a row. I usually like to listen to psychedelic indie rock or 90 music when going to shows.

Here's how I see it.

In the loud rock scene...metal, punk, hardcore...you don't wear the shirt of the band playing. Ever. You will be laughed at. Always try to wear the shirt of a relevant band that doesn't suck.

In the jam scene, it's obligatory to wear the shirt of the band you're seeing...letting the freak flag fly. It's like a calling card to advertise where you've been and what you've seen.

I'm cool with both.

My friend dropped this movie off to me and demanded I watch it. Still sitting here two months later. I don't respond well to demands. I think I will check it out this evening after din-din with mom.
