I used to live there also. Great town, very multicultural, very accepting but California X 10 as far as liberal goes. Was great for some things but I drew the line when the province wanted to pay for cell phones for hookers to call 911 when they got in trouble. Food was pretty good, best Chinese I ever had but could not get a good hot dog or pizza. I missed Greek diners also.
I ate at Stephos on Davie Saturday night, then went to the Yale.

...it's a restaurant town, it's a foodie town, it's a chef town.

I leave in two weeks and I cannot fucking wait. Vancouver has slowly risen to be one of my favorite places on Earth.
I'm planning another food crawl to incorporate izakaya dining, oysters at Forte's and some new surprises.

Best hot dog ever, anywhere. The cart is right outside the door of my meeting room. Nothing like a kurabota pork dog.

You and I should take a two week vacation together...eat, road trip...get fuckered...and write a book about it.
if you can figure out a way for us to do this on commission...let's say book commission...i'd seriously consider it! meantime, you need to be in touch come your next NYC visit. we'll do an food and music tour of the big apple.

Fortes for a local beer and some oysters first.

Then to Guu with Garlic, my favorite izakaya so far. Sake, tapas, and the like.

Entrees at Tropika. Malaysian and Singaporean, with a hint of Chinese.

The final event is a Nutella crepe from Cafe Crepe. This is where most folks tap out.
