As some of you know, on the morning of January 10th, the Vibes family lost a brother. Michael Potashnick, or "Mike P" as many would call him, passed away due to pneumonia at the age of 52. For those of you who don't recognize Michael's name, if you've been to the Vibes, you've heard his voice. You know the guy, "Let's give a warm Gathering of the Vibes welcome for…" Yup, that was Mike P. From Vibes 1997 at Croton Point Park through Vibes 2004, Michael was our Stage & Production Manager before taking over the role of Co-MC with Wavy Gravy in 2005 through last summer.
On Sunday, February 20th from 3-9pm at the Arnold Bernard Art Center, on the campus of the University of Bridgeport, the Vibes family will celebrate Michael's life with a room filled with friends, music & remembrance. Michael was an amazing man, filled with life & and a laugh that made us all feel that everything was going to be ok. Let's make sure our collective love for Michael will not fade away. Please visit the "Michael Potashnick Memorial" page on Facebook ~ http://www.facebook....124400247630218 ~ for more information and to RSVP. You can also RSVP by calling Vibes HQ @ 203 908 3030.
We also want to mention the first Mike P gathering to be held, organized by a collaborative group of his extended Burlington production family, which will take place Sunday, February 13th from 2-5 p.m. at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, 153 Main Street, Burlington, VT. Friends and family are invited to join together for an afternoon of storytelling, remembrance and celebration. More info can be found here: http://www.atomicpro....com/mikep.html
It's times like this that the VibeTribe come together and celebrate not only our love for Michael, but our love for each other. Take good care, and see you on February 20th in Bridgeport.
With much love,
Ken
