@ Nancy - If im not mistaken it was a stomach virus that had him in the ER with 104 degree temp and vomiting for 7 or more days. From that he lost a tremendous amount of weight and was very weak even weeks later. He contracted Pneumonia, Im not sure if it was a function of any cold or virus or if it was just being weak and low immuned and in the hospital. He battled Pnumonia the entire month of december and the last posts he made on FB near christmas time said he was weak but feeling better and out of the hospital at the time. That's the last I knew - When I learn more, or hopefully someone else does, will post.
Gordon just posted an interview with Mike and Wavy Gravy from 2008 - on Mike's FB page - His laugh is so great! If you have time give it a listen - especially the last minute.

Michaeal Potashnick, long time emcee for Gathering of the Vibes, left us on Monday, apparently due to complications from pnuemonia. This is a devestating blow to the GOTV production crew and the entire Vibe Tribe. He was truly one of us and he will be sorely missed.
I'm not clear on all the details surrounding this tragic bit of news. Word just got out yesterday morning and so far, that's all I know. Perhasp someone here who has more info can chime in.
I wanted to pass on this to our little community here.
In 2008, I did an interview with Mike and Wavy Gravy for Radio Vibes. Here it is with a few good pics of Mike thrown in...

I was lucky enough to share a few drinks and a few stories with Mike P. both at Vibes and in various clubs in the Bridgeport area. Year after year, we always seemed to wind up hanging out in the same place after Vibes was done and the staff were all winding down. We'd trade stories of that year's fest and some other gems from the world of concert production and we'd both note that this seemed to be a repeating occurrence. Vibes just won't be the same without him.
I just listened to the recording of Mike on the Vibes 09 stage introducing Ken Hays who introduced the Mayor, who introduced DBB. It got me all teary just hearing his voice, realizing what we've lost. I don't know who could possibly fill his shoes on that stage.
RIP Mike.

I'll try. I don't have anywhere to host it though. I'm going to put together a Vibes 09 (I don't have the main stage recordings from 2010) montage of Mike and I'll give it to the vibes website admin. Please stand by.

I actually met Mike last year when Primus was on stage... He was hanging in wavy's tent and I ended up there some how 
and started BS'ing with him for 20 minutes.... It was one of the best conversations I had all weekend. We hit it off good and had a few good laughs, It ended with him tell me to get the fuck out as he flipped me his card and told me to email him... I wish I had. He was a good dude.

I talked to Wavy's manager yesterday and gave him the news. Leda had already beat me to the punch but since Wavy *just* got out of back surgery last night, Mark (his manager) decided to wait a day or so before telling him. It's going to hit him very hard. If you look at Mike's FB page, his profile pic is him and Wavy both with the red clown nose and Mike with his arm around Wavy.

I just checked the burlington free press website again but didn't find anything. I'm pretty sure he lived in the Burlington area so I'm guessing it would be in there. I'll try and update this if I hear anything.
