The voice of the Vibes has been silenced.

Mike Potashnick died last night due to complications from pneumonia.

so sad... mike was a big hearted guy. i didn't know him really well but every year at vibes he always had a big, warm hug for me... RIP

He was great! A really funny guy, used to crack me up when I had the chance to hang with him.

It appears that mike came down with the Flu really bad around thanksgiving, that turned to pneumonia. He was on the mend, had finally broken his fever and was said to have been feeling better. I dont know how things changed or when.

Very very sad. Mike was a huge music lover, a wonderful person with a humongous heart, and a dear dear friend. He will be missed, his hugs will be missed, his laugh will be missed... and oh that booming voice of his.

he gave me my special Terrapin baseball cap that you see me wear a LOT, at the 2000? 2001? full moon new year's eve weekend. i love that hat, and don't think i've put it on very often that i didn't think of him in fact.. this makes me so sad. RIP Mike.

i wonder if he started out with that same terrible virus that i got thanksgiving week. when the cough hung on for soooo long i remember thinking several times how easy it would be to get pneumonia from this, and not even realize it.
