so i talked to him an hour ago. he is on morphine and was feeling no pain

makai and i are heading out soon.

i was making some steamed veggies and sliced the end of my @$%# thumb pretty good

not to self; do NOT use a sharp knife on less than an hour's sleep

thanks everyone makai and i made it here a few minutes ago. dad is thinking about ordering dinner. he has all the morphine he wants and is in good spirits

his "deathbed wish" is to live to see 1/1/11 so about 5 more hours

but as he said, "i could be here for a week".

i slept from 11-6. which was good because i slept like 45 minutes the night before... there was a couch in the "family room" a few doors down. makai got a hotel room and we'll switch this morning so i can shower. dad is sleeping peacefully. off to find some coffee!

last night dad asked the nurse "so do you see many people with my condition? how long does this take?" she said, "no art, people with aneurysms usually go very quickly". my dad is tenacious and stubborn, even in death

I'm glad he's in good spirits. That reminded me of hearing "After Midnight" last night. (Very amazing he survived at all, post-rupture. That doesn't often happen.)

well that made me smile

this is one of the most difficult things i've ever done. but there is a lot of awesomeness too. i just spoke with an 83 year old woman (i would have put her early 70's if that) whose husband has been here over a week. we had similar belief systems. she was very intelligent. it helped us both so much to sit down for 1/2 hour and talk. very grounding
