Ok, Safireblues said she hates pants and wants to wear more skirts. I too love the freedom of skirts but only like to wear long ones (my legs are pudgy and I have tree trunks for calfs).

My issue is, even if I find a really nice long skirt, I can never find a shirt that looks GOOD with the skirt. Help? Fashion gurus? Makeover Wednesday? :funny1:

Well, what's your favorite style shirt to wear?
Or, what kinds do you feel most comfortable &/or sexy in?

That might be able to better aid me in helping out w/ some style suggestions.

I'm into more arm coverage but your skirt is wonderful. :)

I had a hard time finding pics of the exact type of skirt that I like but the shirt below is a style that I might wear (without the frilly sleeve ends).

I like pencil skirts but again, I need below the knee coverage. I think I need flowy and long. :)

3/4 length V-neck - Good choice.

Those look awesome w/ long skirts.

Did you maybe answer your own question a lil bit in finding that shirt link?

When I wanted more arm coverage I would wear a lot of music t-shirts w/ my skirts, but you're looking for more elegant. I gotcha.

If you don't want too short & don't want 100% long, 3/4 length is a great choice & style. And they go w/ everything, from any style skirt to pants.

well my first question is where are you wearing the skirt... work? (business casual or suit & tie office) fun? (bar, dinner, wedding) casual? (shopping on saturday, festival etc)

also while you say that shorter skirt make your legs look stumpy I would go into a store and get a bunch of skirts of different lengths and try them on.... remember to wear the type of shoes you would normally wear with it - I hate how I look in some skirts with no shoes on but with the right shoe it looks totally different

I think pencil skirts are very flattering on a lot of different sizes and shapes (though in my mind more for work or upscale type fun) maybe its just not a style you are use to and thats why you think you look bad... can you take an honest friend for a shopping day?

I would like to wear skirts to work. It's a business casual place. Typically I wear darker jeans with a nice top and nice flats. I would love to find a pencil that fit me well but I'm pear shaped so the skirts tend to hug my hips and are too loose on my waist.

For weekends I would like flowy, casual skirts. And that's another problem I have...finding shoes that go with those skirts. Hahaha! I don't wear sandals very often and I have a hard time 'seeing' how well certain shoes go with certain skirts.

The person I COULD take shopping with me who would be honest would be my mom. Maybe I'll force her to come out some weekend. Hmm, we ARE going to NYC in a few weeks...... ;)

what about something like this? http://slimages.macys.com/is/image/MCY/products/6/optimized/503966_fpx.tif?

it goes to the knee and is flared so it skims the hips - you could wear it with a cute solid or print wrap (or faux wrap) type shirt in 3/4 length or even elbow length sleeves for the spring and then in summer go to a cap sleeve

I would wear this with low heels to make it dressy (ie out to dinner) or a cute flat (maybe in a fun color) for work

for work I buy a lot of fuller skirts as well (http://slimages.macys.com/is/image/MCY/products/1/optimized/503971_fpx.tif?bgc=255,255,255&wid=167&qlt=90,0&layer=comp&op_sharpen=0&resMode=bicub&op_usm=0.7,1.0,0.5,0&fmt=jpeg) and then pair them with simple solid fitted tops (usually V or scoop neck)

and skirts like these (with the box pleats) are some of my favorit for work http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=337570&CategoryID=132 but might be a bit much for an office were many are in jeans - usually paired with a untucked button down or button down & a v neck sweater on top

I like all of those!

I probably just need to take more time putting outfits together at the store rather than buying a skirt and hoping I'll find a nice top to go with it somewhere else.

Thank you ladies for your advice!

I **LOVE** that skirt, but at 6ft1 my chances of finding one that long on me are slim and none

I can't find ANY long skirts in the shops right now.:undecided: It's looking like I'll have to wait until festy season and buy from vendors. But I need a couple, my usual stash of skirts is beat.

I have some really pretty silky wrap around skirts I bought at harvest fest last year! I only wore one of them so far, cant wait to break them out soon!!!

Yeah. I mean, they have the calf length, but I really just want a few long skirts, I didn't see any. I did buy a long dress though. And that wrap strapples top that Missy borrowed the other night- I bought that in 4 colors.
