The wedding.
From the beginning I thought we would quietly get married, alone.
But then I told my sisters of my plan and they spent a couple of hours talking me out of it....that was in August. NOw his family wants a wedding too and it's looking like an actual 'event' is in order. So much has happened with work, family, etc. over the past few months and time just got away from us.
Fast forward to now. Given my work schedule we could probably get married first weekend in May, but WOW that is one month from now. I dont' want bells and whistles though so do you think I could pull it off? Like just say "this time, this place" see you then? I figure we grab a friend to marry us, hire a caterer and be done with it.
Thoughts?
BTW I have no dress...hehe. We do have our wedding rings and the desire to get married. :) So I guess we don't need much more?

Um, all I can say is, after I decided that "ok, we'll have a wedding" when I started to plan it, things just kept popping up as to what needs to be done. For me, I needed these *months* of planning. I'm glad I did, cuz now I will be having a perfect event, suited to us* and everything else just fell into place.
I couldn't imagine doing it in a month, I would have a lot of regrets. BUT, you seem to be a bit different. You really *just* want to get married. I think keeping it REAL simple, you just may be able to pull it off. The more I started to plan, the more I wanted. Hahaha. Ya know?
IF you can hire a caterer on such short notice and IF you can find a place and someone to do it, then I say, it was meant to be.
My advice to you, DON'T FORCE ANYTHING! Take the steps to make it happen for the begining of May and see how that goes. Don't force it if there are kinks right off the bat. You may just find it quite easy and simple. BUT GET ON IT WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!!! And keep us up to date dammit!!! :)

Thanks :)
I spoke to my sister today and we're most likely having it at her house. Now it's just a matter of when. I told her let's do a small family affair +8 to 10 friends. Keeping it simple, just a tent in the backyard type of thing. If we could do it May 2 that would be ideal but we'll see if that works for her!

I'm sure I'll get excited now that we are actually 'planning'. Friday night I am getting together with my two sisters, two cousins, my mom and my aunt. It'll be a wedding planning evening I'm sure!
See? All I needed was a little coaxing... ;) I know we will have a wonderful wedding - I've just been managing huge projects at work so another project right now seems daunting!
It'll be funny if all of a sudden I become a obsessed with details :funny1:

You will. It happens. IT'S A BLAST!!!! It's so much fun that I kind of wish I was not marrying the ONE for me just so I can do it again and again. Ok, TOTALY NOT REALLY. But you catch my drift.
Have a blast with this. You only do it this one time. (Well, supposed to only do it one time )
Ok, i'll shut up

What's going on in this corner?
Thanks for checking in on this Wende :)
Well........sigh.
Stuff going on - lots of stuff.
Unforseen stuff.
We may have to postpone again, and likely will but that's ok. We have some family stuff going on that makes us think it's best to wait. However, we'll see. TOmorrow we're going to try and figure out options but right now we are FRIED.
It's all good though, because we know we'll be together forever no matter what!
How's your plans going?

just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round~ everything's done
~It's TIME DAMMIT!!
I think you should run away and do it and don't tell anyone. That way all this time counts toward a gold wedding anniversery. :);)
I know a couple who were married for nearly a year, before they had the ceremony with family and friends. The now celebrate two anniversaries, one private, the other being the one when the people they know attended the ceremony.
(They did this to speed up health insurance coverage, among other things.)

We just might take the secret wedding route at this point. Every time we pick a date some life event comes up and we have to postpone...
