error message .. my thread was too long? too many characters .. however my message was only a short three sentence paragraph .. help!

it was way less than that .. really, a tiny paragraph. but i cut and pasted it from a word doc. is it reading something i can't see?

It could have been, also blank spots are counted too. Or maybe there is some funky encoding in the word doc that is taking up room.

You could try pasting it in a notepad and the cut and pasting it here and that will strip any "encoding" out.
