Do you laugh at people who dont play top of the line Gibson LPs or American Fenders?
Do your amps cost more than your car?
Are all your effects stamped 'Analogman'?
Just wondering.
I was having a discussion with a buddy of mine.
He's a name whore, and I go for sound.

In my opinion it's about the player, and the sound. Not so much about brand names.

I bought an Epiphone valve Jr head for $99.
Total steal!
SICK tone.
Very loud for 5 watts, run thru a 4x12 cab.

There's a fine line with not wanting to spend a fortune on gear and buying total crap. If you do your research you can get quality gear and not put yourself in the hole. But many people see a deal at Guitar Center and jump on it and all they did was purchase a shiny piece of shit. Then there are other people who have money to throw around but have no idea how to dial in a nice tone on their $3,000 amp so it sounds like shit. My point is the key to a good sounding instrument is knowing what oyou are doing with it, and that goes way beyond playing ability. I tell all my students that learning to maintain your equipment is part of learning how to play it.
