View Full Version : Dress to wear to a wedding...

I have 3 weddings to go to this year. One in March, one in June, and one in September. I want to get one dress that would be appropriate to wear to all 3 so I don't have to buy 3 different ones. I have no clue where to look. I want something that's maybe knee length. Not TOO dressy, but not a sundress. Any ideas on where to look? I hate dress and shoe shopping! :ravn:

Check out eBay. If you're looking to spend a little more check out j.Crew. Wetseal is sometimes a good place to look too. Delias? Forever 21 sometimes has cute things.

Oh, J Crew has a lot of really cute dresses on sale :)

filene's basement! (tuesday morning, marshall's tj maxx)

Get somthing in a neutral color beige or taupe and get acesories that will spice it up for each event like a scarf around the neck or waist...a few bags....ect!

Macy's also has a pretty good collection of dresses, and if you get there when the sale is right it's totally reasonable :)

took the words outa my mouth

The sale racks at Macys/JCPenny/ or any of those dept stores.

Terlet get a black tea length dress w/ either spaghetti straps or short sleeves that way in the colder months you can get a wrap or something and in the warmer ones you can not sweat to death.

J.Crew was the first place I looked, and yeah...not spending $180 on a dress, and besides, I didn't really like any of them. Not me. Hmph.

NO way!!!! number one you are so tiny now that I probably won't even recognize you if I saw you and number two almost everyone looks sexy in a halter top.... just get wide straps and it will make you look all curvy and sexy!

and I have to recommend black too..... so classic, timeless and can be for any season.... in the spring/ summer pair it with a bright pink or blue and in the winter a jewel tone

I have this in the pink and blue colors.. They are so flattering and the little gather on the shoulders is so cute, just makes you look really feminine and adorable.. The black with the skirt would be really classy, yet dress down enough for you to boogie and have fun

I think this one is still a winner, although I like that cute one you posted, Wabbit...the black & pink with the polka dots. :) I've only been in Ann Taylor to buy giftcards for other people...never for myself.

The dress I wore to Jay & Jenny's was a last minute of the closet decision, and I wasn't too comfortable in it because it was kind of shortish, and it was tight because I'm fat.

Love the strapless one also.
I'm having the same dilemma, my s/o's cousin this weekend and another cousins wedding is in June.

I have a dress for this weekend, a beautiful simple black Alberto Makali, so classy, but I tried it on last night and I need to drop a few pounds to have it fit perfect.... so I'm fasting, uugghh.

Dandelion, Marigold, and green tea steeped with a dash of honey to keep me sane for breakfast lunch and dinner till Sunday! Fun!

I'm ascurd to order online. I don't want to get the wrong size, wait for it for 3 weeks, then put it on to find out I'm a moose, then ship it back, and start from the beginning again. I suppose I could have Rich use the measuring tape on me, but who wants their s/o to do that?

Remember, when chossing apparel to attend a wedding in, throwing one of these into the mix always goes off as a hit....
Make sure you're sitting/standing in front of everyone else too.

Well, to add complaint to the Marshall's issue....when I went looking for a dress the other day, I found nothing there. I did buy a clutch purse though.

A few days later, I found a dress at Dress Barn and went to return the clutch purse to Marshall's.....dresses that weren't there just a few days before were suddenly there. It IS aggravating.:dunno:
