Pink Eye??

the day care sent home a notice on Thursday that several kids in the toddler and the young toddler rooms have pink eye. yesterday, miles woke up from his nap with a very pink, swollen eye....there wasn't really any yellowy/green discharge, but it is very watery. it looks the same today. i'm on hold now for the phone nurse from the peds office. :( i think it's only a bad case if they have the discharge, right?

no matter how bad it is, it's highly contagious! there are a couple of different kinds of conjunctivitis and it can also be caused by an allergic reaction. i used breastmilk when my kids were still nursing and, after that, a combo of red raspberry and chamomile tea with a little goldenseal. you don't even have to put the tea directly in the eye, it's better to just soak it in a cotton ball and lay that on the closed eye. it needs frequent treatment.

i would imagine that regular medicine has some sort of drops too, but i never went that route ;)

thanks so much summer! the nurse said that since there wasn't any yellow discharge or no crusty stuff, just to use warm compresses. he's not happy about that, either! holding down a nearly 2 year old, is practically impossible. my neighbors must think i am killing him the way he screams! i have red raspberry and chamomile teas....i was planning on going to the store after nap time....i can pick up the goldenseal then. thanks again....i really don't want to use meds....

Hope he gets better soon! I feel your pain on wiping the eyes and/or doing anything to them- Maya sees that washcloth coming and turns the other way. :lol: It's kind of funny yet annoying at the same time.

well, i am keeping him home today. he's got a low grade fever....both eyes are red this morning....still just watery....no yellowy crusty stuff. he's also got a bad cough and he didn't sleep much, either.
