and they had a blast!
I'm so happy that my dad is more comfortable knowing where I live, and that I live in a really nice neighborhood, and that I have someone in my life, who he likes, that takes great care of me.
Whew...
I was worried about a lot of it. He was impressed with everything...
Honestly the last he knew my life was falling apart and I had to move back in w/ him to get back on my feet, then lost my mom, then lost my mind.
I think we're both finally at peace w/ the whole move to NJ, almost a year later

We had a great day wandering around Red Bank, and ate some Sushi.
Then later out to dinner for some ribs and steak joined by Jill and Bern. I think my dad is about to adopt Jill as another one of "his daughters" :funny1:
We had breakfast the next morning, just them and me, and he was telling me how proud he was of everything. No lecture??!!?

Had to share...I'm still smiling about it all today.

YAY!!!

Congratulations on your dad approving of your new situation! I know as adults we don't need anyone's approval but it feels nice all the same.

Did you secretly hope for a lecture?;)

no I was really dreading the "lecture" from my dad.
He really had nothing to say.
I just really wanted him to be at peace w/ me being here...he's been really upset about it ever since I left, and its left a weirdness in our relationship. My dad is one of my best friends...I can't have weirdness there. I need him there for me and on my side....so this was soooooo great!
*sigh*
I feel like even though we "say" we dont need their approval, we want/need it on a subconscious level ....

Well I hope the weirdness is gone for good. I'm sure he was just super worried about you because he hadn't witnessed your living situation, your man, your friends, etc, with his own eyes. Now he's seen that you are taking good care of yourself and you are doing very well. :)

I didn't realize how much I wanted my dad's approval (or acceptance) for ending my last relationship. But later when I heard that he made a positive comment about it to my fiancé, I felt a huge weight had been lifted off of my shoulders.

aww, that is so very awsome. Nothing better than a solidified feeling of content with your parents. :) So comforting.
