yeah so i had my dog euthanized last tuesday. she was almost 14. it's ok. she had really bad arthritis in her spine but i did what i could to keep her comfortable. the sunday morning before i took the younger dog for a walk and of course the whole time we were gone old freedom was freaking out. she was an anxious type and it really only got worse recently.

when i got in the house and let her out she jumped from almost the top of the deck to the back yard, missing about 5 stairs. way bad for her to do. well she ran around a bit and then ran back and stumbled up the stairs. the next day she was incredibly sick, throwing up and wouldn't eat or drink anything. she couldn't get comfortable in any position, laying, sitting, standing and was having trouble keeping her balance. walking was just a staggering mess. so i made the appointment for tuesday and the vet agreed, there just wasn't any getting better. they have a nice room there for this and it was really quite peaceful. when it is time for me i'm probably going to wish i was a dog, we really do better by them at this time than we do by our own, imho.

((((you and your furbabies))))

i'm so sorry for your loss but glad Freedom isn't in pain any more. so glad i got to meet her and Anya and the kitties just over a month ago, and share some time and space with her for a bit. she was such a good dog! sweet and loving and very kissy-face :)

i've been with two of my pets (my black lab Casey, and tuxedo cat Cassidy) when their time came, and was so thankful to be able to be there for them, help soothe them and keep them calm and happy in those last moments. glad too for that chance to say goodbye, which we all too often don't get in this life.

i've been puppy-sitting for a friend recently, after hanging at your place and realizing just how much i miss Casey and being around awesome dogs in general. so...please meet Buddy. :)

i just cleaned the rug :coffee: there are some things that make letting go easier, such as senior pet bladder and bowel control.

 thanks everyone :rose: my sense of humor is kind of strange sometimes. well, probably most of the time. she was a good dog.
