This past week Gabe has been waking up much earlier than I would like (we are talkin 5:30!!!). Even keeping him up later makes no difference. He is waking up with a very, very wet diaper. It isn't leaking, just really wet-- But that has to be what is waking him up, and thus me..
We aren't really training yet, he will sit on the potty, but not having much success yet. Are there such things as overnight diapers or should I go up a size? He definitely still fits in his size 4's, but I think he is just on the cusp of size 5 (he is 27 lbs, so he could go either way)
Any suggestions, or just suck it up and learn to get up earlier??
this must be a boy thing. Both of my girls are always dry in the morning, starting from about 3 months... you could limit his fluid intake like 2-3 hours before bed?

I started using the Pull Ups as soon as that started happening over here. SInce they have boy ones and girl ones, the strip that soaks up the pee pee is located more in the front for the boys and soaks up more...I found that they worked great. Also, our boys go to bed around 8, so I give them something to drink and a snack around 7:15 - 7:30. This way, they are satisfied, but they usually always pee pee before bed and dont need another drink.
I have always changed their diapers before I go to bed though, around 11pm or so...they are so used to it, that they dont even open their eyes anymore. It ensures a dry night for them ...and hopefully later sleeping. Good luck with whatever you do!
aidan will do that sometimes (he wears GoodNights at night)
the only way i can think of to have less liquid come out is to put less liquid in. maybe someone has a better answer than me

If you go up a size the diaper might be too big and leak.
I change Cole's diaper every night before I got to sleep. He doesn't wake up while I'm changing him and he sleeps until 7-7:30.
Maybe you can try changing him before you go to bed and see if that works. :)

Maya's been waking up with very wet diapers lately too. It doesn't seem to wake her up any earlier than usual though (thank God) b/c she's usually up by 6:30 every day anyway.

Hmm - you should definitely try the size 5 - he's at the right weight. When Jack was at that stage, I believe I went up a size and used Pampers Cruisers at night. Also, as the other ladies have said to try to cut out liquids an hour or two before bedtime. It was very hard for me to do that as he got so used to having his sippy in bed with him (still does). He's 4 now and still in the Goodnights at bedtime.
Good luck!

It almost didn't matter with JD with the liquid before bed thing... he was always just wet.
I swear to you though, I think the kid held it all day because he was too busy to go...
and then when he was sleeping, his body took over!

I just bought some of the cruisers for nighttime.. I read the package and it says that they help wick away moisture from their body, so I figured I'd try them. I also looked at the Huggies pull ups, the overnight ones. While we aren't really in pull ups yet, I wonder if the super absorbant ones will be helpful.. hmmm.. will try the cruisers tonight and then see how we do.
He normally doesn't drink right before bed. It is at least an hour in between.. I will try to push it out longer, though and see how that works.. There are some mornings that he is totally dry when he wakes up, it has just been recently that he seems to be wetter..
But, I have also been letting him monkey in his crib a bit before I get him, hoping he'll fall back asleep.. So now I wonder if he is just waking up and then in the time between me getting him and him being awake, he is peeing and making his diaper really wet?? Before he had his pacifier, so he'd probably just soothe himself back to sleep, but now when he is up, he is up.. maybe?? maybe he isn't peeing himself awake and had always woken up at this time, but I never knew??
curious, but I don't want to get up at 5:30 every day!! that much I know to be true!!
great suggestions, I am going to figure this out!! or at least once the weather is nicer, start getting up at 5:30 and we can take a nice long morning walk.. That way my butt and thighs can benefit from being up at such a horrible ungodly hour!

Aww, he is still in a 4? yeah, maybe a 5. since he is right on the line. My (not-so) little guy is already in 6's. I have the same problem too...he almost always explodes out of his diaper by morning.
I think I might try the pull ups like pinkprophet said. He loves his drink at night, right before bed.....another fun habit to break

They make overnight pull ups - or try a larger size. I also found that cutting off fluids and hour or so before bed helps too

Definately get the overnights!! My 2 yo will get up early and be wet 9/10 if he is not wearing them!
