I play in a community band and we just got a new player who plays a contrabass clarinet-thing is nearly as tall as she is and sounds soooo cool!

Thanks, never realized how expensive they are, trying to help her out, she is pretty good and really into it. She plays in a Yale sponsered community band and I believe was just asked to play in some other local band, not bad for 6th grade. Thanks again. :V:

That is very good for a 6th grader! (my daughter got invited to play in our local community band at the beginning of 8th grade and I thought that was awesome :) and went along for the ride, dusting off my flute after 20 years). Anyway.... Maybe someone has one she can borrow or that can be fixed up...throw it out there wherever you can...craigslist, school. At our next practice, I will ask our bass clarinet player if she has any ideas.
