Can't access new PMs

so it says i have two new PMs but when i click on it there are no messages. It just keeps flashing

are you sure they are pm and not friend request?

The box is green and the Your Notifications:5 is flashing red. I click down and it says unread private messages but when i click on it there are none.

does it say anything else? there should be an entire drop box, mine flashed for a while until I realized I had friend requests...once I looked at them the flashing went away
