actually, targeting illegal immigrants might not be such a bad idea... I have no problem with it, and if they don't... then it's a win-win for everyone. (well... they take the risk of their life, but it definitely would prove their loyalty and determination. I'm sure it would have some unintended side effects though.)

or simply their desperation?

regardless of geographic location or citizenship, no life is more or less important - especially to the families who love them.

exactly.

sadly though, most americans don't seem to give 2 shits about the over 1 million dead iraqis, or any of the other people that have been slaughtered over there.
and even the deaths of our own troops become mere numbers after a while.

good ol' de-sensitization.

I don't mean to be disagreeable, but our society does value certain lives over others.

Of course this would never occur in a perfect world.

The problem is in picking which life is more valuable than another, because we're all hypocrites when it comes to this.

Are you a vegetarian?

You think the last eight years were bad? Wait until we have another 50,000 troops in Afghanistan! This war is just getting started, and will continue for generations. Welcome to the age of the perpetual war. There is far too much money to be made for it to ever stop. Obama won't do crap to stop it, and will only add to the death and destruction around the world.

"I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs"

Thomas Jefferson

And where did Obama get his money?
Bankers

Goldman Sachs $955,223
JPMorgan Chase & Co $642,958
Citigroup Inc $633,418
UBS AG $505,017
Morgan Stanley $483,523

that adds up to around 3 million.

Obama's campaign probably used at least 3 million dollars worth of toilet paper.

I bet you don't see less, there will be a need to keep up a certain troop level. Obama is going to get a lot of folks killed in Afghanistan and there are policies/strategies GB used Obama is happy to have in place, like the LEGAl wiretapping of international phone calls.

In that case, then, you shouldn't mind having Barack Hussein Obama as your President and Commander-in-Chief then should you? What are you arguing against?

I was not arguing. I was making lite of the fact that most are against these things, yetthey will still exist even though Obama promised change.
Yes, I mind having Obama president, as much as you folks hate Bush.

Troop levels are strictly defined in federal law. Each branch is require to be at a certain level.

Don't worry, Republicans are on their way out and Libertarians can fill in for them.

Then you can start calling them hypocrites and liars too.

Will you vote Republican when they are the "third party?"
