But if you find your local board, or your month board, it's a great little community of brides in the same situation as you are :) Lots of help! I'm on the NH board and the June '09 board. And I love pretty much all the ladies there :)

Wende
01-28-2009, 12:23 PM
I'm crying. I f'cked it all up. I wanted lilac and got purple. The bottle said to use the whole bottle for 2lbs of fabric. I figured I had 2lbs of fabric and forgot that purple is not what I wanted. Total duh moment. Anyone want a *purple* crinoline?

Do I try washing it? Warm water? Cold? eeeeeeek. 50 dollar brand new crinoline. :(

When are you thinking Terra?

Tentative date was Febuary 27, 2010. But given the economy (Stephen's a financial planner :undecided: ) and the new Pfizer-Wyeth announcement, we havent committed or put a deposit in with our venue....so all I know is winter 2010...that could mean January, Febuary, March or hell even December. It all depends on the dates that are available with Mountaintop when we can make the financial committment. :undecided:

Bleach might turn it hot pink! Be careful!! Oh..and good luck!

Wende
01-28-2009, 03:12 PM
ok, it's purple. Washed again but it didn't lighten up. It only looked more worn around the lace parts. I don't want to wash it anymore. I will deal with it. I just won't lift up my dress too much for pics.

I just took pics of it but I don't know how to get them up here. Thats why I love Facebook so much. SO easy.

Wende
01-28-2009, 03:14 PM
It INSTANTLY turned purple. The directions tell you to agitate it for at least a half hour. I turned it on the rinse cycle IMMEDIATELY after I dipped it. Couldn't imagine if I let it sit.

What was the color number you used? Did you use Rite? What are the materials on your crin?

Wende
01-28-2009, 03:27 PM
100% nylon. RIT dye. I made the mistake of using the liquid vs the powder. I believe the powder is more subtle.

I posted pictures on my facebook. Tell me what you think.

Wende, if you hate it, and know of anyone traveling from the jersey shore area anytime soon, let me know and you can have mine - it's white and i THINK it's an 18 even!

i need to take a look to see how easily the pink trim will come off that my seamstress added (in lieu of dying the whole thing) but i'm sure it's nothing a seam ripper or whatever it's called can't fix. :)

It isn't that bad Wende.. But ... Maybe if you washed it with Rit color remover? It might lighten it up a bit..

see topic 2.. this sort of applies

I think it will look sweet peeking out from under your dress.. My dress had crinoline built in so I never even thought of dying it.. I would have loved to have added a splash of champagne color (my dress was ivory with champagne beading)

Sunny Sunshine

Wende, did you do it in your washer? I just don't want to ruin my parents washing machine...

sure-ur-rightdancer
01-29-2009, 12:36 PM
if you are worried about the washer just do an empty load (ie no clothes) with bleach and it should get rid of all the dye -- or just do a load of towels or something else you won't care if it gets colored next

Wende
01-29-2009, 06:44 PM
Yea I did it in the washer and then washed it again and my washer is good as new.
