I get like that too. Sometimes I wonder if it's PMDD.
What are the symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder?
The primary symptoms that distinguish PMDD from other mood disorders (i.e., major depression) or menstrual conditions is the onset and duration of PMDD symptoms - with symptoms appearing during the week before and disappearing within a few days after the onset of menses - and the level by which these symptoms disrupt daily living tasks. Symptoms of PMDD are so severe that women have an impaired level of functioning at home, at work, and in interpersonal relationships during this symptomatic time period. This diminished level of functioning is generally in great contrast with the same woman's interactions and abilities at other times during the month.
The following are the most common symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder. However, each individual may experience symptoms differently. Symptoms may include:
psychological symptoms
irritability
nervousness
lack of control
agitation
anger
insomnia
difficulty in concentrating
lethargy
depression
severe fatigue
anxiety
confusion
forgetfulness
decreased self-image
paranoia
emotional hypersensitivity
crying spells
moodiness
sleep disturbances
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
fluid retention
edema (swelling of the ankles, hands, and feet)
periodic weight gain
oliguria (diminished urine formation)
breast fullness and pain
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
respiratory problems
allergies
infections
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
eye complaints
visual disturbances
conjunctivitis
gastrointestinal symptoms
abdominal cramps
bloating
constipation
nausea
vomiting
pelvic heaviness or pressure
backache
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
skin problems
acne
neurodermatitis (skin inflammation with itching)
aggravation of other skin disorders, including cold sores
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
neurologic and vascular symptoms
headache
vertigo
syncope (fainting)
numbness, prickling, tingling, or heightened sensitivity of arms and/or legs
easy bruising
heart palpitations
muscle spasms
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
other
decreased coordination
painful menstruation
diminished libido (sex drive)
appetite changes
food cravings
hot flashes
The symptoms of PMDD may resemble other conditions or medical problems, such as a thyroid condition, depression, or an anxiety disorder. Always consult a physician for a diagnosis.

Ohhh yes. I can feel it building. I lost my shit twice today over things that weren't big things. I have an appt. with my gyno in 2 weeks.
Funnily enough,
I got pg with Aidan in May of 2001. From then until August 2008 I had 2 pregnancies (5/2001- 1/02 and then 5/2004-1/2005) and was breastfeeding all that time (Aidan weaned while I was pg with Karys, she weaned in Aug 08). That entire time (when I wasn't pg and was having my period) I barely got any PMS/D type symptoms. About 3 months after Karys weaned and I got ALL of my hormones back, is when the shit hit the fan wrt my hormones and my moods.

I'm not sure if my anxiety is related to pms or if its just the changes going on in my body and mind...
I found myself going to my xanax more often recently...and I'm not happy w/ that outlet.
So I was reminded last night, of Kava Tea by Yogi after sending out a text reaching for help bc I was feeling really anxious.
So I made myself a cup of tea, and after a few minutes felt like the tightness in my chest was able to release and my mind quieted a bit more. It was in no way as strong as the xanax which is fine w/ me, but it was relief none the less.
Even Delilah (kitty) was relaxed since she was so intrigued by the smell that she took 2 little laps of it, 5 min later she was out cold in my lap :funny1:

since being on the nuva ring and actually knowing when i'm getting my period, i've noticed that about 2 weeks before i get my period i have a major freak out.
i call this my "bagel freak out" here's how i first noticed a pattern. i go into my usual bagel shop at lunch and order my food. get everything, go back out to my car and a blue mustang is parked so close to my car that i HAVE to hit it in order to get my car. i run back into the bagel shop- where i've been going for years and know everyone who works there and start screaming "who's blue mustang is parked so close to my car that i have to hit it to get into mine!!!!!"
ok course no one says anything. i go out to my car and wait. some dude comes out and heads to the car and i start screaming at him about what an asshole he is, he mumbles sorry and gets in and takes off.
i realize later that day that i was perhaps being a bit irrational. lol.
it took me a while to go back into the bagel shop, i was so embaressed
