That's right, god damn pimples! Ever since I've been exercising, I've been dealing with pimples along my hairline and now a few on my chest/back. I wear my hair up, and I also wear a headband. I shower about 30 minutes after I'm done exercising, and I use Neutrogena body wash. What more can I do? They are driving me nuts! :ravn:

Exercise, no exercise....I'm 31 years old and I still get them no matter what. :(

omg i get them when I work out too.
its just the nature of the beast...your pores are clogged for some reason or another. maybe just your body's balance... or imbalance.
Oh I get them in my cleavage...HOT. :plain:

you're being healthy...and its a new thing for your body, might take a few months to regulate.
sorry love. I still think you're gorgeous!!!

are you whiping the sweat away while you are working out?

I'll blot it up with my sleeve or the bottom of my shirt.

Maybe I should use a towel. I'm a sweaty beast. :funny1:

I've read that the most common cause for zits on your hairline, is not rinsing out shampoo/conditioner fully.

I'm 31 years old and I still get them no matter what. :(

Same here and I'm 33. What the hell!!!!???

My boyfriend is sweet and says zits make me look youthful

Hmm, I know I rinse well enough since I'm in the shower for an obnoxious amount of time.

I don't even wash my hair everyday. Lately I've been straightening it and doing it every other day. I wonder if that's it. Maybe I'm not washing my face good enough along my hairline since I'm trying to keep my hair dry. I think I solved the problem, Houston! :funny1:

And you know what else? I have my period at the moment, and I always get zits around my period. I just started exercising everyday 2 weeks ago...maybe it's a combo of sweat and period. Hmm. Meh, whatever. I'll noxzema tonight.

I use my face wash on my breasts and my bum, seems to help. I also use witch hazel as an astringent after washing my face.

Could it be the hairspray/styling products running onto your forehead from the day before? Some of that stuff is like spackle.

Aww how sweet.

I asked my parents a few years back when I should expect to stop having break outs...my father just laughed. He said he STILL breaks out sometimes. I guess I'm just prone to it?

I have very sensitive skin and notice that if I touch my face, I break out.....if I have pms, I break out....if I'm stressed, I break out. Good stuff.

I usually have my hair up with a headband, so I don't think that's it. I do have very sensitive skin, so I'm sure it's due to my period and just not being used to me sweating and all that good fun stuff. I put some tea tree oil on last night, and they are starting to clear up. I'm going to get some tee tree oil oxy-type pads to use after I'm done working out. I saw some at Trader Joe's a few weeks ago. :)

Sounds like me. Sis got my mom's perfect f-ing skin and I took after my dad in that department. P.S.: I'm 38, he's in his 70s and we both still get breakouts.

I got a really good mask & use it once a week, more often if its "that week." Seems to help. I also switched to using Clinique's 3-step and noticed a big difference in my skin (for the better). It costs more than what I was using, but its helped a lot. less breakouts and my skin's not painfully dry like it used to be.

after two+ years of OCM (with a few noteable, regrettable exceptions) i'll never go back to cleanser/astringent/moisturizer again, that's for sure.

what's your OCM formula these days Froggie?

I'm still amazed with the OCM. While I loved washing my face with sunflower and castor oil, I've switched to the Sweet Japanese Girl (or whatever it's called) face wash. It helps SO much with balancing my skin. I have sensitive skin that breaks out occasionally but also gets dry. This stuff has been great.

And the no poo...I do love that, too.

i have to say, i used to do the ocm until i realized my face is just like my hair. i very rarely wash my face now and use bare minerals makeup so no need to wash. if i use eye makeup i remove it with olive oil. when i shower and my face gets wet i use rare minerals moisturizer afterwards. now i know my acne is hormonally induced by my iud so this is my best bet. seems to be working great for me now since my face doesn't have to balance itself back out after i wash or oil anymore. my hair has never looked better since i stopped shampooing. holy shit its luxurious and full and healthy like never before.

01-30-2009, 02:03 PM
i have an IUD, i never heard of the connection .. explain please.

the ocm is also really great for slowing the wrinkling down. i also use virgin coconut oil on my face everyday.

i have the mirena and its been in for almost the full 5 years now. i can feel when my hormones are shifting and get a discharge (sorry if tmi). never ever before i used the mirena did i have any skin issues...all thru hs and the years until i had my mirena. never. i've spent a few years researching all my issues with the mirena and found others have the exact same problems. for me, the benefits outweigh the acne. not sure what i will do when the 5 years is up this summer but not sure i want to do anything permanant yet. was thinking of switching to the no hormone paraguard but don't want the periods that it provides. :undecided:

I have to tell you, my fiancé has very dry skin that he had to use special moisturizer on and whenever he shaved, he'd get red/irritated skin. I got him to try the Sweet Japanese Girl and it worked wonders for him! No more dry, flaky skin AND he doesn't get red razor burn marks anymore. Plus his face is super soft now...:D

He had an interesting time last time he bought a bar. The people at Lush tried to gently tell him that the Sweet Japanese Girl was for removing makeup.

so what about those realllllly deep ones that you cant see for a few days but you can feel coming in and they are HUGE and red when they do?
i am over 40 goddammit and i am sick of having the skin of a 16 year old:undecided:
i moisturize every day, use SPF year around, wear makeup like once a month if that, use non-scented, no-dye wash and a scrub once a week or so...what the hell am i doing wrong?
*sigh*
really frustrated over here...:joker:

I get those, Dee. And you know what I do? I pick at them and squeeze and irritate the shit out of my skin and end up with something worse than if I had just left it alone.

I've been using the noxzema pads every night, as well as using my Burt's tomato complexion soap in the shower. Every other night I do a noxzema mask. I've been showering after exercising, too, as well as wearing a headband to keep the sweat off my face. They've pretty much gone away! :Phishfolk:

i dont fuck with them unless they look poppable and then yeah, it makes them a scar and i have to deal with them for months instead of days:rolleyes:
but popping them is sooo catharitic!!!!!!?!?!?!?! why IS that?:joker::funny1:

i get them right before and right after my period...sometimes when i am ovulating too, for good measure. dammit. :undecided::lol:

i guess i should try a different soap but my skin is so sensitive that i have been afraid to change from my scentless, dyeless stuff i have been using for years now...

I highly reccomend bare minerals rare minrals bleimish treatment, it costs like 28 bucks and lasts a long ass time. really gets rid of all the zits super quick.

I have fairly clear skin, but i've been getting these HUGE under the surface zits that are literally the size of a half dollar on my chin. Bare Minerals makes it go right away!

If you're getting them on your hair line it's most likely caused by product sitting under the sweat band. Just a thought. I'd ditch the head band and jump directly into the shower. If you're working out every day it's probably a good idea to wash your hair every day....to get the sweat off your scalp...I dunno if I don't wash my hair every day I look like a grease ball so I might not be the best person to give advice on this.

Hey Dee, I really really really like Lush's fresh farmacy face. It's made out of callomine(sp?) powder, tea tree oil, rose oil, and lavender bits. Works great! leaves my skin feeling soft, and never over dries it. The callomine takes a lot of the reddness in my cheeks away.

I'm nervous to try lush's shampoo bars, but I'm gonna try. I want to get off the chemicals.

I eventally will try thier moisturizer too, but right now i'm hooked on clinque's gel and super defense.

after years of having horrible horrible skin, I finally found something that works for me. Clinique in the light green bottle. The foamy wash and then the toner. I can't use their moisturizer, because it has benzoyl peroxide in it and I'm allergic, so I just use my oil of olay for sensitive skin instead.

Erinisme
02-18-2009, 08:57 AM
thier dramataiclly different gel moisturizer has not benzo in it. trust me, i can't put that shit anywhere near my face. oil of olay makes me turn bright red...all of them

Clinque's super defense for norm/oily skin is also amazing works great and super light, and has spf 25 in it.

erin, have you tried the rare minerals face wash and moisturizer yet? i only wash my face when totally necessary now (don't even use water really) but when i do wash i use the rare minerals and put the moisturizer on. my acne is hormonal so i have been taking sulpher and antimonium internally and using murad's spot treatment and supplement with proactive correcting lotion. i trlu believe the lack of washing is helping big time, just like not using shampoo/conditioner. my skin is finally doing what it is meant to do without me messing with it.

I found sunflower seed oil at my local hippie shop. Well, technically it's a health food store that sells herbs and supplements...but there is a definite hippiness to it. :)
