what is the deal with posts disappearing?

I've heard others mention they are experiencing the issue as well but have not seen any official acknowledgment to date.

Is this a known forum issue?

I know of what these boardies speak.

On more than one occasion, I have posted something, hit POST and then it seems as if it is there.. until later when I go back to see if there are any replies and my post isn't anywhere to be found.

I can't give you examples, because they don't exist.
And I am 99.9% certain that the posts are not being deleted.

I don't have any examples at the moment but I have confirmed with vibeguides in the past that something I posted in a particular thread was not deleted.

Drop has the typical scenario spelled out.

Boy first I am hearing about that... I have the next few days off and will see if I can find anything about why it might be happening.

This has actually been happening since the forum switch way back when. At first I thought I was imagining things but I got confirmation from a few other boardies that commented on it over the last couple of months in random threads. There was actually a ms. peloquin thread on this topic on the family forum last week.

Some days it doesn't happen at all but other days it happens so much I end up having to double check every post to make sure it took.


the next time I come across the problem I will give you thread info if that will help.

yes that is my post.

I only use the quick reply box to post. Basically what happens is I'll post something and it will show up fine. then I'll check out some other threads and then check back in a previous thread I know I've posted in but the post(s) have vanished.



in the case above the post was gone so I came here to post about it and then when I went back to the thread it was there again. I have been trying to come up with a logical reason for it, but I'm stumped.

Are you hitting the "Back" Arrow/Icon on your web-browser?? That might cause the issue you explained because you are probably going back to a cached page. Just a thought!

ok I need you to try this, next time you post and it dissapears try control+f5 for a hard refresh. I am almost thinking its a cashe' issue with the browser.... Maybe...

nope. when I post and the thread refreshes I usually go up to the top of the page and click the vibes family link which brings me out to the main page. From there I click the link to enter the thread again or view other threads. Sometimes i will check in on a thread I know I posted in hours or days later only to discover my posts are gone.


Mr. Pat I will try the hard refresh next time I come across the issue and let you know how that works out.

Over the winter we did a post purge.... We notified everyone and gave them 30 days to bump any post that they wanted to save. After the purge we didnt run a recount.

About a month or two ago, the post counters stopped working so I have to run a 'recount' so the board only counted the posts the were remaining.
