how do you read?
i wanted to talk about a book i'm reading but i'm so random with my reading habits i've started a few to see what will take.
foundations by asimov the last man by mary shelly desperation by stephen king and the negative dialectics of poodle play.
foundation seems boring a little ways in the shelly book will take awhile
and i really want to read the zappa book however it reads like a university thesis.
i'll bet the king book wins a second time around no less.
I do the same a lot of times... try a few to see what catches. Or I'll just let one book introduce me to the next.
read zappa's autobiography. my husband got it for his birthday and loves it! he said it's 100 times better than any other zappa book. (of course, frank wrote it ;) )
i loved foundation but i was like 17 when i read those books.
i go to the bookstore and read a lot of covers then the 1st page. if i don't love the 1st page, i don't buy the book, even if it was recommended. so far, so good :)
i love that you just read desperation and the regulators again -- followed by just after sunset! i can't wait for you to read under the dome. i promise i won't bug you all the way through. and i won't give any spoilers. :clapping:
i'm a king freak. not really into any other horror. just king.
right now i am on a scattered little binge, with three books on the go. nothing is really absorbing me with any intensity, which leads to lack of focus, which can ultimately lead to not finishing any of the books on the go. if i am absorbed, my focus is singular. i :heart::heart: living across the street from the library. if i decide not to read something, i can just take it back and get something else. :jump:

I'm usually reading 1--3 books at a time (one at work and 2 at home). Since I work at a bookstore, I have access to what's coming out when and have favorite authors from whom I look for their next book. This is both good and bad since I read very quickly but at any one time I usually have a list of books I'm waiting to come out or are next in the pile.
i also like to re-read some of my favorites every year.

I have the attention span of a 4 year old w ADHD - I can't possibly read more than 1 book at a time & I usually abandon most 1/2 way through:lol:

I only read 1 book at a time. It usually takes me a week or less to get through a book...depending on how much time I have after work. :)

I have a very specific reading HABIT..:funny1: I let the book I'm reading lead me to the next book, I've been specifically doing that for the last 20 or so books (1.5 yrs), It started with Jon Trafton recommending a book that his friend wrote, on the "culture" in the 60's and 70's. Which led me to Aldous Huxley's "Island" which was mentioned in that book. While reading that book, I started doing research on Huxley and realized both him and Tim Leary were fascinated by the "Tibetan Book of the Dead," so I picked up that one next. I think you get the point...right now I'm reading "The Happiness Project," and the woman while writing that book was also writing a book on Winston Churchill, I don't know much about him, so I'm going to pick up her's or if he wrote his own Biography.
