i went into petco today to find a dog house for our stray cat, limpy, to live in for the winter. they didn't have dog houses but on the way out, they had a couple of cat "apartments" set up with two cats from the local shelter. one was a 5 1/2 year old maine coon named simba whom i loved but i don't want a long haired cat and the other was a 7 month old short haired male, not yet neutered, named tiger. he was orange. i fell in love

forest went and met him now i just need to convince the husband that we need a third cat. well, a fourth if you count limpy :)

my camera crapped out on me in october. it's under warranty but the husband can't find the receipt (he gave it to me for my birthday. if i had bought it the receipt would be in my receipt drawer, of course ;) )

we took a few pics with forest's camera last night but iphoto isn't interfacing! now we're looking for his software disc. ah technology!

this little cat is soooooo affectionate! and you can hear him purring across the room!

How do the others like tiger?

so far we are keeping him isolated to do the slow introduction thing. in the evening i let luna and red each come and touch noses with him while i had the door cracked. luna growled a little and red hissed a little. which is normal.

then last night, i had the door to his room open and luna wondered in and just sniffed around. tiger was on the bed with me. i think if i do this right, everyone will be fine :)

tiger probably has the loudest purr of any cat i've heard. ever

(it was difficult going to work this morning!)

so i took him to the vet this morning and he was SO GOOD. he didn't make a peep in the car. in fact, he just curled up in his carrier and totally chilled!

he has a little cold and runny eyes so i got medicine for both. he was amazing when the doctor was doing everything to him. at the end, as she was leaving the room, she turned around and said, "you know, he is a remarkably good cat! i think you both got a good deal."

then, when i was waiting to check out, these three huge dogs came in and all sniffed him in his carrier. he just sat there. one of the dog owners was like, "wow, that's a really great cat!"

so i guess i'm not the only one who thinks he's special :)

oh, and the vet thinks he's more like 9 or 10 months old. in a few weeks, when his cold clears up, he goes in for de-balling.

i took a couple of photos of his cute little face but his eye is soooo runny they didn't come out very good. i'll try again when he's better. he's so incredibly good about taking his medicine. i have to squirt this gel right onto his eyeballs twice a day and he doesn't even flinch

it's hard to get a good photo of him with his eyes open. his eyes are very golden and really reflect the flash! i'll have to wait until all this grayness passes and there is some good natural light.

his procedure went well on tuesday. he was a little wobbly the rest of the day but back to his old self by last night. the vet's office called the next day to see how he was feeling. i don't remember a vet ever doing that before!

Glad I cought this page hey there sums, been a few years but like a bad check I bounce back. Looooooooove the kitty. Both of ours are adopted. One gray tiger and one black and white, named Tiger(we got him from Amy's folks who are dog people) and the black and white is Pigpen.

more tigers! :) i love the name pigpen too

they really are small lions and tigers. although lately red is starting to remind me of an owl. he has huge eyes and the way his ears are seem owl-like to me. and he's a watcher  (forest hates it when i refer to him like that though :funny1: )

One afternoon Amy and I decided to look at kittens at the humane society. We were almost through the place and while I was checking a Maine coon cat Amy spotted Pig one cage away. As soon as pig and saw each other we knew I was his human. When they brought him to the showing room and he was running around furballs from the days showing were flying everywhere. The first thing that came to mind was Pigpen from Peanuts. When I suggested it to Amy she thought it was good seeing we did not have any of our pets named after a member of the Grateful Dead. Tiger is Amy's boy and rightly so seeing she would see him often at her parents and was his solice from two well meaning(?) overbearing Labs That drove him nuts to say the least. I had owned dogs and keep ferrets so this is my first endeaver with cats and I love it. With Pigpen in the house Tiger and I have become friends at long last. Pigpen has taught me how to handle cats. The ferrets and the cats get along famously. Well enough of my ramblings. Take care Ray

so we went to the vet again yesterday and the doc took a look at tiger's eye and said it looks like he might have an improperly formed tear duct which causes it to run all the time. there is nothing we can really do about it so it looks like he'll just have a runny eye. but i love him unconditionally so it doesn't really matter ;)

atticus has this in one eye. it's really no big deal and doesn't seem to bother him at all. he doesn't like it when I wipe his face though. :funny1:
