And then there's this cryptic message from the Post:
The #Mets (http://twitter.com/search?q=%23Mets) say they just wanted to give Sheffield a rest. Cory Sullivan is starting in his place.
Gary Sheffield just had a very brief, very weird press gathering. There seems to be something more here than just "rest."

Its definitely more that "rest". Check out these 2 stories from todays NY Daily News.

They were discussing this on the post-game last night as well. Its really starting to to feel like the Mets front office isn't happy unless they're fucking something up & making themselves look like idiots. Its gotten very disheartening this season. I'm sick of watching Omar make one stupid move after another and dismantle anything that's still good about the team in the process. If anyone needs to be handed his hat after the season's over, its him (IMHO).

For a 40-year-old who wasn't expecting to play everyday, Sheffield has done a remarkable job, batting .285 with a team-high 10 homers.

Sad, isn't it?

Just not our year. :undecided:

Braves To Sign Billy Wagner
By Ben Nicholson-Smith [December 2 at 1:28am CST]

The Braves have agreed to sign Billy Wagner, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The deal is worth $7MM and includes a $6.5MM option for 2011 that vests if Wagner finishes 50 games.

The Red Sox offered the lefty arbitration tonight, so they stand to gain the Braves' first round pick in next year's draft (#20), plus a supplemental rounder. The move is pending a physical, which could be more than a formality in this case. The 38-year-old returned from Tommy John surgery last year to strike out 15 batters per nine innings in 17 appearances with the Mets and Red Sox.
.
.
so the Red Sox end up with two early picks for Billy Wagner and the Mets end up with 3 million dollars and Chris (useless) Carter... very poorly done Minaya, not that it matters as he won't be around to trade those players in a year...

Dear Omar,

You suck.

Sincerely,

P.S. You are stupid.
