View Full Version : 1am wake up call...

Poor Gabe woke up at 1am this morning and was sick in his crib-- We had a long night-- We finally got down for a semi sleep at 4am. He woke up again at 6:30-- Tried some water and toast, which he tossed again-- BUT, after that, he perked right up and seems to be done with his tummy issue. We have had no more throwing up, he even asked for a snack around 10am (and that has stayed down!!)
He just took a nice solid 2 hour nap, wasn't interested in lunch, but is munching on those new cinnamon graham goldfish (somewhat soothing, I guess)
this is only the second time he has been tummy sick like that, I just feel sooo helpless-- (and man, I am sooo tired, of course I didn't lay down and sleep while he did)
Guess it is a really good thing now that I cancelled his party, between the snow and the overnight tossing, I would have called it anyway--
:undecided:
aw, i hope he continues to feel better. it's the absolute worst feeling when your kids are sick

Oh gosh. That's always rough...such a mess too when they're too little to even try to make it to the bathroom.
One time, my son was sick in the night and just went back to sleep...caked on in the morning....awful in so many ways.
I hope Gabe feels much better soon.

well, we went the whole day without any other reguritation-- He was super hungry at dinner, I still gave him pretty mellow food (mashed potatoes and chicken).. he hasn't had any milk all day, just water ( I tried some pedialyte, but he won't drink it, I gave him smart water instead-it has electrolytes as well, so I figured we were on the right path)
cross your fingers for a full, rested and DRY night..

It's one of The Rules:
When children vomit, it must be in their bed at 1:00 a.m. If there is more than one child, at least two must share the affliction on the same night.
Bet you never thought you'd be rinsing sheets & blankets in the sink and picking out chunks.

Poor Gabe. Hope he's back to normal today!!!
We've so far avoided the crib puking, but Maya's infamous for puking in her car seat. Last week we went to a friend's 1st birthday party and were on our way home around 8pm. We pulled in the driveway and she puked all over herself and the car seat.
Yesterday we were on the way home from NH and she threw up, but I had a bucket ready and "caught" the first load. I wasn't so lucky for the second.
Mamapj- that must have been awful!!!

Last night was uneventful, so I think this little bug has run it's course.. I am thinking we got off lucky if it was only 6 trips to the "bucket" (so to speak, there was no bucket, just lots of towels.. yuck)
He was not happy to be at daycare this morning, the whimpering started in the car and we had full on pout mouth when I left, but they haven't called to tell me that he is sick.. I am sure anything this morning was an act to keep me with him, not true illness.
The other time he had a bug was during the day, while nasty, it was soo much easier.. The nighttime illness is no fun. Groggy upset kids, groggy worried parents, bumbling around in the dark (I didn't have my contacts in for the first hour of the event)
 sick kiddos and the heroes who care for them...

OMG....we are going through the same thing!!! Our littlest guy puked ALL NIGHT and has been sleeping off and on today. Our other guy who is 2 is not sick and wants to play like usual today. Mommy is not really feeling up to it since I have not been to sleep yet! My head is killing me and Im afraid to eat incase I end up with the bug too!
I was also picking chunks off bed sheets last night (several different times) I finally just started putting beach towels as a top layer and removed them as needed...ha ha! And he had blackberries with dinner so all the puke was purple and red! YUCK!
What are the odds of NOT getting this thing from him? Our 2 year old seems to be fine still too.

I wound up sick as a dog on Tuesday, woozy all day yesterday and now I have a sore throat and my right ear hurts.. I wonder if Gabe is feeling the same way, might make sense as to his mood this week. I feel evil and awful myself..
