A delicate/sensitive question..

OK, I'm having a bit of an issue with Jude and I'm hoping some of you may be able to give me some thoughts..

Not sure how to put this delicately so I'll just say it! Lately, Jude has been trying to get me to touch his penis! He giggles and says "touch it." I want to say that he's big into tickling and getting tickled on his belly, under his arms, etc and I'm wondering if this is an extension of it (no pun intended!haha). I'm trying not to make a big deal out of it and have said to him "Jude, that is your own personal area" and then I kinda trail off because I don't know what else to say. I also said that no one should ever touch him without his permission (I don't think I should have said that because he's young but I was pretty caught off guard!). So, has this ever happened to any of you?? I've tried not to make a big deal out of it but it's making me a little uncomfortable.

Aidan was quite the exhibitionist as a toddler. We just had to repeat (gently, but firmly and EVERY TIME) "Aidan, that is your penis. It is your own personal part. You can touch it, but it's private, so you have to go to your bedroom to do it"

I've done the same with Catie. She was into touching herself a few months ago. I told her that it is private and if she wants to do that, she should go to her room.

We've also had the discussion that NO ONE touches your vagina except you.

I'm sure to him it is an extension to tickling, but I think you're handling it well.

He did it a couple more times but I've been gentle yet firm in telling that him not to try to get me to touch him. I think he got the hint--he hasn't asked in a few days

this is perfectly normal, hey, it feels good to get touched there. he seems pretty normal to me (i can't wait to see what kind of teenager he turns out to be .. haha)

but yeah, just gentle reminders that this is a private part is fine. no big deal and no need to say anything more really.

kids aren't born with inhibitions about their bodies .. that's all.
