I'm definitely going to try for tickets for the Tweeter center on 6/9. I will be 36 weeks pregnant at this point though, so I'm not sure if it would be wise for me to go. I would be there without a doubt if it were closer to home, but it's about 3 1/2 hours from VT, and that's pretty close to my due date.
I don't know if my Drs. would let me go, let alone my hubby.
What do you think? I will have a really hard time missing out on my first Phish show since Coventry if I can't do this...
I think it depends on a few factors.
Are you high risk?
Are you overweight? (before getting pregnant)
what are your birth plans? (depends on risk assessment)
where is the baby? (transverse, head down, breach)
does the nearest hospital to the concert take your insurance?
so you have to look at all of these questions to see if it's really an option.
first time mothers statistically have longer labors and give birth a few days to a week (sometimes up to 3 weeks) past their "due" date. So, hypothetically, your water could break at the concert and you would still have plenty of time to make it to your regular hospital... or, if you were already planning a natural birth, you could totally go with the flow and birth wherever you may be... everything depends on your risk factors. If you're not a natural birth candidate because of your risk assessment, and there is even the slightest possibility that you may have miscalculated your conception, then it is a no-go (because it is "safe" to give birth any time after 37 .5 weeks)

You mean on 6/6? I think NC is a bit further than 3.5 hours
I personally wouldn't chance it. I wouldn't want to into labor in a Phish lot

isnt that like, 9 months?
I'm pretty much the type that says hell go have fun while your carrying kid... but shit... I dunno.... not sure I'd take the chance, what if its hotter than a mother fucker (no pun intended) that day?

I probably would not do it if I were in your shoes-- While you are still a month out, I agree with Tiff in that I wouldn't want to labor in the great woods lot.. If it were meadowbrook in nh, that would be a totally different story!!

Yes I meant 6/6. I probably won't end up going just b/c it's so far, but you never know. It will all depend on my Drs. thoughts. I certainly won't tell them it's for a Phish show though; I'm sure they would believe it's for a wedding. :)
Thanks for your input, Joia. Those are all good things to consider. I'm going to try for tix and if I get them figure it out from there.
If you do decide to go, be sure you bring snacks and water... I don't know what the venue's rules are about that kind of thing, but at 36 weeks, you need to snack and you need a ton of water or you can induce a false labor (which could easily turn into real labor)

You're probably fine but I understand your concern. My 1st preggo I wouldn't go anywhere the last 6 weeks :lol:
Now I would probably go
What you're maybe not considering is the fact that you may be too big, uncomfortable, tired, etc to want to go.
I know a few shows came up during my preggers that I thought I really wanted to go & then the time came & I didn't

Exactly
When I was beginning my 9th month (I think ), I saw The Dead as MSG (and I lived in Virginia.)
Its all up to you and how you feel. :)

I won't mind going to the show and sitting with my feet up the entire time. I just want to be back at a Phish show and would hate to miss this tour.
I'm planning on the Dead at the Knick on 4/17 so we'll see how that one goes. :) Kel- are you going to that show??

this may sound WEIRD but bring a wheelchair and insist on special seating?

 Ya know... that's not a bad idea... :funny1:
One thing that concerns me a little bit is just the crowd to get in. I can't imagine it will be very bad at tweeter but do you know how many people throw their arms and bags around at a show? They're at the perfect height for a big ol' pregnant belly. That's definitely on my mind for getting into the Knick for the Dead b/c that's always such a cluster while trying to get in. Either I go in really super early or try to get in a different door or something.

That was the plan but our friends will be in SC & want us to go to MSG. Guess we have to decide soon!

everyone else has pretty much covered the main things to think about. I'll just throw one more out there... would you feel comfortable delivering so far away from home if this baby decided to enter the world quickly?

You may be uncomfortable...the car ride might be hard on you..I cramped up in the car at around 32 weeks on a trip to Mass from NJ! That said, I did go to Vibes..2 hours away..at 36 weeks pregnant..I got home, and my water broke at 37 weeks 2 days, and the baby was born the Friday after Vibes :) Patrick is my first!
Did I take a risk? YES! I'd say buy your tickets and see how you feel. You'll know if it's possible or not :)

Thanks for your advice, rivergirl. :) So far I didn't get tix, but my friend offered some to me which I'm probably going to pass on since I'm going to Hampton in March. I'll only be 23 weeks for that trip which should be more than manageable!! I figure I'm throwing down a lot of $$ for this mini tour so better that I skip another show when I may be more uncomfortable. :)

So what about going to Phish shows when your wife is pregnant? She'll be fine I can go on tour right?
J/K Her due date is the same day as the first Hampton show, but I am gonna try to make it to Jones Beach.

By Jones Beach you need to BOTH be there, with the baby strapped onto one of you.

It was a little over an hour away (but that time was cut down to about 45 minutes when driving with a passenger who is in labor!). We stopped at the apartment when we got back in town, grabbed our bags and called the doctor (but didn't wait for her to answer her on call page before heading to the hospital)...
Then we were at the hospital for a few more hours of labor before sweet Benji-boy was born!
I love that story.

Yeah thats an awesome story!
I don't know if I would go Sara.. I am 36 weeks (almost 37  ) right now. I would be to paranoid to go.
BUT that's me. I am somewhat of a nervous person. I say if you feel up to it GO! I think it is pretty clear you want to! Your baby is safe in you!

I'm pretty sure I'm not going to go, but only b/c I got Hampton tickets so I'll be there in just a few short weeks. Coming across these tickets was like a godsend since I'll only be 23 weeks and in the 2nd trimester when it's still OK to travel etc. Thinking about doing a show at 36 weeks prego is a little intimidating, especially so far from home!!! If it were an hour like Wonka and Beany it'd be a different story. I remember with Maya that I would have show plans and just have to bail out b/c I was so tired and unmotivated to do anything.

Well I've got tickets for the Saturday Mansfield show, travel plans, sleeping arrangements, and an understanding friend who will leave if anything happens. At this point I don't think I'm going to go though just b/c I'm starting to feel VERY big and pregnant. Literally in the past 2 days it's gone from manageable to DAMN I'm pregnant!!:lol: Plus now that I know the baby's due date (6/23) the clock is ticking and I have some stuff that needs to be done before then.
My hubby was never big on the idea anyway so I know he's happy that I'm probably not going to go. I'm sure I'll be sad on Saturday when I'm not there but it's probably for the best... :undecided:
For your peace in mind and body, it certainly seems like the best.
