hey folks- any advice would be most appreciated-
the hubby was recently diagnosed with acute hypertension -his BP was through the roof and came close to being admitted to the hospital- i assume this is genetic since he doesn't smoke, drink all that much, eat meat, etc...
it kicked him into gear of getting it down through nutrition & exercise... he's been put on meds that he does not want to live on for the rest of his life-
he's got a mostly raw diet of greens, he's juicing every other day with carrots, ginger, celery , chard... walking every day- and he's already lost 20 lbs and his BP is at a good level. I'm proud of him.
i am asking.... what are the basic daily requirements for proteins/vitamins, minerals etc in the diet for a healthy balance?
some days he'll get dizzy and lightheaded and all he's eaten is a handful of walnuts, water, a glass of fortified soymilk and raw vegetables all day.... not sure if its just from the BP meds or something he might be missing in his diet---
and advice would be appreciated :) thanks!!

^ This. Also have him try putting a slice of beet into his juice. It's great for the blood.

so glad to see this...first, because i'm glad Mark is taking steps to insure a long and healthy life and second, because Jason just mentioned last night that he'd like to try mostly raw for the summer, after i told him how much it helped me a while back and that i wish i could get back to that head-space and level of commitment to my health.
i will check out that thread, thanks :)
Brianne, a great way to include beets is in juicing...i LOVE a blend of beet, apple, ginger and lime juice to start the day. it's earthy and energizing and just...yummy!
best of luck to Mark. i will pick your brain for ideas soon, i'm sure, since you're a little bit ahead of the game on me.

update- he did the beets- i love beets- but dude- that is the coolest color when it comes out of a juicer. i wish i could have it as a dye color.
he kinda leveled out- i think the drastic immediate lifestyle change was a bit of a shock at first...included a bit more of the oil/small small parts of fats/and allowed a little bit more to get into his diet-plus the normal psychic triggers were addressed....
but he just about eats cooked food no more than once-twice a week. he looks great- his BP is way down and he's walking every day.
his whole mood and demeanor seems to be a whole lot calmer too- not that he was an asshole or anything- but he's a lot more lighter in thought and resistant to stressing out and negativity than before <3
and...he's lost 30 pounds.
amazing.
your thread really helped him too-missy...
we also got this hemp/maca protein shake mix thats full of raw goodness that we make every other day. vim and vigor!
go mark!

I love how I see Mark every other week or so and he keeps looking better and better. The sparkling eyes are back!
I think historically, beets were one of the things that people used to dye fabric! I think it would come out a lovely pink color. I sure do know it stains white t-shirts.

that is amazing:heart:
i am so happy for him!
raw foods definitely change your life (and you don't have to be 100% raw to see amazing results!).
i am glad my thread helped
another tip: eat sprouts! they are an amazing superfood, plus super-cheap to grow (seeds cost pennies!). i like growing sunflower & green pea sprouts. they are a living food, bursting with lifeforce, energy and oh so many vitamins & minerals- amazing! and you can grow them indoors all year round (i grow my sprouts in trays with potting soil- so easy- and empowering!)
anyway, miss you guys..
best of luck to mark on his journey and to you, brianne as you support him through this process.. and love to azie! i miss that cutie :)
