Can anyone suggest the best way to organize recipes? I have a ton just sitting in this small box, some in a drawer, it becomes a pain in the ass looking threw all of them to get to 1. Should I type them up on the computer, or can I purchase a binder any suggestions would be helpful.
Depends on how you use them. And how your brain organizes things.

I've got a small binder type recipe book that I love. Has pockets and little tabs to organize. A binder with clear plastic envelope thingys is great because you can wipe off any shtuff you spill on them.

mine are a mess too. i have an extra 3-ring binder type photo album, maybe i'll do something with that. i like the idea of the ez clean sheet protectors and tabs/envelope pages are readily available.

Lately I've been using the "recipe box" feature on the websites I frequent. For the ones I still have on paper, I have several plastic accordion-type file folders that I keep them in (each category gets its own folder) and keep them with my cookbooks on a small bookshelf in the kitchen. Its one of the few things in my life I manage to keep organized.

I use a photo album. I had a bad habit of printing or ripping out recipes from magazines & shoving them into other cookbooks. I finally organized them by tab pages in a photo album. I picked categories I would search by (chicken, beef, vegetarian, baked goods, appetizers, soups & stews) - but I would suggest organizing them in a way that suits you.
I rarely use my other cook books now:clapping: And it's so easy to find things

I still use the old fashioned recipe box with dividers. They separate the recipes into categories such as appetizers, salads, soups, main courses, desserts, etc. You still have to look through the sections to find the one you're looking for but it makes it a lot easier.

I use a 3 ring binder and those clear plastic sheets along with a alphabet divider tab thing - I also tend to sort by main ingredient (ie oven baked fries goes under P for potato, apricot glazed chicken is C for chicken) or finished product (oatmeal raisin cookies are C for cookie)
I need more sheets though! I feel like I find more recipes than there are days to cook sometimes

 that's what gave me the idea. We got 57 photo albums when Catie was born & I wanted to use them so....cook book. It's great b/c you can just cut out recipies from mags or print them out & put them in. I put in pics too to make it more interesting
I do the three ring binder thing too, with the sheet protectors.I have it organized by category:
main dish, thanksgiving, desserts... then I have the pages I tore out of magazines and the recipe cards I like in a gallon sized zip lock I poked holes in to fit in the binder...

I have a box. All my recipes are on a 3x5 card and in a box that they fit perfectly in.
It's sectioned by type (soups, entree, sauces, meats, veggies etc.) with tabs and then it's alphabetized.
Uh yeah, Im a virgo :plain:

oh see i like where' you're going with this.
Transferring everything to a 3 ring binder would mean that I dont have to copy the recipe from the magazine (or whereever) to my 3x5 cards!
I just rip out the whole page and slip it in a sheet protector.

I do something similar, but since I'm an A-type OCD - I cut them out neatly w/ pictures & put them in the pages

what do you do if the recipe goes on to the other side of the page? (the back)
