My family loves pad thai, but I can't seem to find a recipe for the sauce that I like to make at home. Does anyone here have one that they use and like? I'm really looking for one someone has used before, ya know?

Mmm I  Pad Thai! We went out for Thai food on Friday, and I couldn't get Pad Thai because they premix the sauce with the noodles, and the soy sauce they use had wheat in it. :ravn: I ended up getting something else that was DELICIOUS! (I can't think of the name...clear noodles with some fish sauce and veggies and chicken...YUM!) Can't wait to go back!

looks insanely complicated just to gather the ingredients, unless you live near an Asian Grocer.

his recipe does look much more complicated than I've made.

this is about all there is to it.

sauce: tamarind pulp, fish sauce, palm sugar, and thai chilli powder (don't make it too sweet)
noodles: thin rice noodle (soaked to soften)
tofu: extra firm tofu (pressed and lightly fried)
peanuts: roasted and unsalted, ground (not to peanut butter)
egg: 1 per 2 servings
beansprouts: 1/2 cup per serving

other than needing to pick up some beansprouts, i keep this stuff on hand. Once you start using these flavors, you want them more often.
