The farmers market was selling herb plants this saturday- I got sage, parsley and 3 kinds of basil (which were all repottted into one giant ***), and a rosemary plant that is in its own ***...

thinking of going back next week for oregano, and maybe a mint plant if I can find one...

yay for fresh herbs  For some reason I never manage to keep them alive though the whole winter (my rosemary plant from last year just got some kind of fungus a few weeks ago actually...). And cooking is so much funner with a bunch of fresh herbs to choose from. :)

ooh and in a few weeks I can make some awesome basil-rosemary-mozz-mac and cheese. Nom nom nom.

I tried growing cilantro in a *** a year or two ago, but it died almost instantly...I think i'm going to have to wait for a real life garden (in the ground) to try that again. Along with veggies...

Awesome! We haven't planted anything this year. :( We've been so busy with trying to get the house ready to put up for sale. Maybe next year in a new house! :Phishfolk:

hehe here is the recipe: shredded mozzarella cheese, some kind of pasta, fresh basil, fresh rosemary, little bit of milk, little bit of butter.

Cook pasta normally, then in a casserole dish make 2-3 layers of cooked pasta, cheese +basil (shred the leaves by hand a bit first) + rosemary, then repeat 3x. pour just a little bit of milk on top of the dish (maybe 1/4th a cup) and dot butter on top. Bake covered at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

this is pretty much a standard mac and cheese recipe- just cook pasta, make a few layers of pasta and some kind of cheese + whatever herbs go with that cheese, add the milk and butter and bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes (or shorter, but I like it crispy on top). I used to do this with just pasta and cheddar cheese (but that's not too healthy...), sometimes I do pasta and cheddar cheese and tuna fish, sometimes I throw in some purple onions- basically whatever is around the house that I think will taste good.

Here's a picture of mozz-basil-rosemary mac and cheese I made last year :)

We usually add ham cubes to our mac and cheese. My hubby made his mac and cheese last night and it was SOOO good. mmmm...
