View Full Version : Is it tacky to follow up on non-rsvp'ers?

I am having a party for Gabe next Sunday. I had sent out invitations to a bunch of his little daycare buddies. Some have contacted me with regrets, but I have a bunch who haven't said anything. I did include an rsvp # and email address, but I'm a dimwit and forgot a date in which to respond by..

It matters because I am renting a little kid's gym for the party, I can cancel it without losing my full deposit, but am hoping to keep the party as scheduled.. It is so much fun there and I know the little ones would truly enjoy it--

So, is it tacky to ask some of the parents that haven't responded if they will be able to make it? I know a party for a 2 year old is a big undertaking anyway, but I thought it would be a fun break in winter doldrums. I don't want to rent the gym with only 3 kids and 20 adults, it would make more sense to postpone. I technically need to give them definitive numbers by Wednesday anyway, so could I use that as my catalyst with these parents? Unfortunately I am only aquaintance friendly with them, we aren't buddies yet..

Thanks for advice!!

You gotta call them, but at least you can say, "I just realized that I forgot to put an RSVP date, and I need to get a headcount for the gym."

I will be there and i hope Tiffany comes with me too! I don;t know at this time if Damien will be attending though. If you need to postpone, I would love to make the drive and see Gabe and give him his gift anyhow.

I do not think it is tacky to follow up on the non RSVPers Sometimes life gets really hectic and we forget these things. I know i meant to email you back my response, even though we did IM about it, but never got around to it, yet I certainly had planned all along on going.

That's a perfect thing to say!

No I don't think it's tacky. Even if you forgot an RSVP date, people should be considerate enough to do so. I'm sure they're aware it's at a gym - didn't you put that on the invite?

saying you need the headcount is perfect.

I'll try to hunt down these parents on Monday/Tuesday at daycare.. I don't have their numbers, unfortunately, so I can't call them to ask-- I am hoping that they are figuring that they only needed to rsvp with regrets-- I did put the info for the gym, I think I even put their website as well-- Most of the parents are local and know about the place-- Let's hope they are coming!

I don't think it's tacky at all...

 Sorry...I just realized I didn't rsvp either.
I am hoping to be there with Luke, I am waiting to find out if there is going to be a magazine this week (If so, I might have to work) I should know on monday. Sorry for the late notice!

No worries! I knew that you were up in the air! Plus, anyone who has to travel is automatically exempt from having to give me a real answer-- We'd love it if you can come, but totally understand if it doesn't work out-- This inquiry was aimed to the local daycare parents!!

no. I'm psycho. I e-mail, call, whatever. I simply say, "I need a definite head count for food and goody bags"

I would prefer a "maybe" to no answer at all.

Not tacky at all. :) Go ahead and bug em, they should RSVP - especially to an open gym party like that!!
