HeadCount is a 501c3 non-partisan, not-for-profit organization devoted to voter registration and turnout. We are aligned with all of the top performers in improvisational music, including The Dead, Phish and Dave Matthews Band, and register voters at their concerts. HeadCount has registered 50,000 voters nationwide, more than any all-volunteer group in the country. Please visit headcount.org and get registered to vote.
In 1983, the Rex Foundation was established as a non-profit charitable organization by members of the Grateful Dead and friends. The Rex Foundation enabled the Grateful Dead to go beyond responding to multiple requests for contributions, and pro-actively provide extensive community support to creative endeavors in the arts, sciences, and education. Since 1984 the Rex Foundation has granted $8.2 million to some 1,000 recipients.
Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County (Habitat CFC) is a Christian housing ministry that seeks to build community and improve lives by partnering with low income families and community volunteers to build simple, decent, affordable, safe and efficient homes. The Wharf Rats are a group of concert-goers who have chosen to live drug and alcohol free. Our primary purpose at shows is to make ourselves available to anyone who feels we may have something they want. We don't tell others how to attend their show. We offer clean and sober support, strength, fellowship and hope. We are not affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous nor any other twelve-step group. We are a group of friends sharing a common bond, providing support, information and some traction in an otherwise slippery environment. Look for the yellow balloons, signs and the Wharf Rats information table.
A Modern Chautauqua Movement. Chautauqua = *Party With a Purpose*. One hundred years ago traveling Chautauquas spread the progressive movement to millions of Americans. Our modern Chautauqua experiences will focus on Critical Thinking, Positive Psychology and FUN! The Revival will coordinate with local activists, musicians and artists. We will provide: Dancing, teach-in's, pamphlets, progressive films, citizen empowerment training, voter registration, educational stuff for the kids, street theater, demonstrations of alternative technologies and whole foods, etc. We also work with festivals and fairs of different types that want progressive elements at their event.
